We’re lucky to have a wonderful partnership between two of our second-grade classes and the Latino in Action (LIA) students from Centennial Middle School! This year, our second graders in Ms. Burnett’s and Ms. Russon’s classes will be working closely with these dedicated LIA tutors to build and enhance their reading skills.

Throughout the school year, the LIA students will engage our second graders in reading activities designed to spark interest and strengthen their confidence. Not only do these sessions provide valuable learning time, but they’re also packed with fun! In between activities, everyone enjoys a “30-second dance party,” where students and tutors alike get to jump up, move, and groove together. It’s a fantastic way to keep the energy high and make reading sessions something the students look forward to.

We’re especially excited to see familiar faces among our LIA tutors this year—some of these wonderful mentors were once students at Provo Peaks themselves! Seeing them return to give back to our community is truly heartwarming.

Thank you to our LIA tutors for their enthusiasm and dedication to our students’ growth. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, laughter, and a lot of dancing!
